Drag Queens Gossip Corner

“The Storytelling with Drag Queens Foundation has been collaborating with Word Vancouver since 2018. Whether reading at our children's stage during our annual festival or participating virtually for our World Read Aloud Day, the Drag Queen events are some of the best loved and most widely attended shows that we offer. Whether it’s Satanix reading from one of their favourite Canadian children's authors or Mx. Fortunate bringing a bit of flair to the stage for an adult evening of reading, our audiences cannot get enough of the drag performers. We are always happy to have them grace our stage and bring Canadian literature to life the way only they are able to.”

— Dr. Bonnie Nish, Executive Director at Word Vancouver.

“Educational, engaging and magical – our Drag Queen Storytime was the event of the season. Our community was overflowing with excitement, and our event booked out within 24 hours of posting this program. We had 55 people ranging from babies to tween kids and their families show up to celebrate a beautiful day of self-love and diversity. Our performers read picture books and did special lip-syncing performances. Families were begging us to offer it again, so we can’t wait until next time!” :)

Our first ever Drag Queen and King Storytime was amazing! We had about 75 people in the room – a much bigger audience than our regular story times -  all singing and moving along with the performers. Skim and Cheryl were great performers and the room was filled with love and happiness. So many people were very excited about us hosting the story time and we’ve committed to doing this again – and more frequently! Thank you to the performers and to the Storytelling with Drag Queens Foundation for helping make this happen!
